Cana is also conerned for...
Apart from the specific focus of each Cana Community, the organisation is involved in many activities within the wider street community:
Outreach
Outreach to people who live alone in flats, rooming houses or on the streets; visiting people from our communities who are in prison or hospital (medical or psychiatric); taking one or two people for a cup of coffee or taking people for a drive.
Children and Babies
Support of all kinds is offered within the family context including visiting, food, tuition, school fees, uniforms and extra-curricular possibilities.
Funerals
We bury or cremate with dignity many who die without support, especially indigenous people and the mentally ill. This is a considerable expense.
Celebrations
Birthdays & Christmas are central to our communities. Each person receives his or her own birthday party (present, cake and card). At Christmas all receive individually chosen presents.
Creative Evenings
Creative evenings for celebration with dancing, singing, poetry-reading and so on. These are held monthly.
